Fethiye Mosque
Fethiye Camii is an important historic structure situated in the Balat district of Istanbul. It started out life as the Church of the Pammakaristos, which was one of the most beautiful Byzantine churches in Istanbul. The structure was erected in the last quarter of the 13th century and was originally used as the seat of the Ecumenical Patriarchate following the capture of Constantinople. Later on, the church was transformed into a mosque in the last quarter of the 16th century.
