Belgrad Forest

About Belgrad Forest

Belgrad Forest is a large natural woodland located northwest of Istanbul, near Sariyer district. Covering a big area, it serves as a major green space for hiking, jogging, and picnicking.

The forest takes its name from a group of people relocated from Belgrade in the 16th century during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent.

It also contains historical reservoirs and aqueducts built during the Ottoman and Byzantine periods to supply water to the city.
