Harbor Street of the Ancient City
About Harbor Street of the Ancient City
Harbor Street of Ancient Ephesus, also known as Arcadian Street, once connected the bustling harbor to the Great Theater in ancient times.
This was one of the important commercial and transit roads of the city, lined with colonnades and marble paving, it was lit by lamps at night, one of the first illuminated streets of the ancient world.
Harbor Street is extremely well-known for its perfect ruins, and it contains the remains of the Celsus Library and the Marble Street.
Though the sea has receded, this grand boulevard still whispers of Ephesus’ glory as a major port city and trade hub of the Roman Empire.
