The Nek and Walker's Ridge

About The Nek and Walker's Ridge

Nek and Walker’s Ridge, on Gallipoli Peninsula, were critical Anzac positions during the 1915 campaign.

Some major locations on Gallipoli Peninsula are Nek and Walker's Ridge, which are very famous for the fierce battles in World War I.

Nek witnessed one of the most tragic charges in ANZAC history, an ill-fated assault by Australian light horsemen across narrow ground under heavy fire.

Walker's Ridge was a strategic position taken by allied forces to provide them with a commanding view of the battle ground.

Both places have now been turned into monuments commemorating the bravery and bloodshed of the soldiers who fought here.

Today, both sites preserve trenches, cemeteries, and memorials, standing as stark symbols of courage and sacrifice.
