About Euphrates River

One of the oldest rivers in the world, the Euphrates flows through Turkey, Syria and Iraq, where they once shaped the cradle of civilization known as Mesopotamia.

Rising from the eastern Turkey mountains, it joins the Tigris in Iraq and subsequently flows into the Persian Gulf.

Harran and Carchemish were ancient cities that thrived alongside their banks.

Currently, the river in Turkey is used for farming, and culturally enriches the region alongside nurturing hydroelectric dams. 

Euphrates remains both a lifeline and a symbol for the deep history rooted in the Anatolian fertile valleys.
