About Kekova Sunken City

Kekova Sunken City is an ancient Lycian settlement partially submerged beneath the waters off Kekova Island, in Antalya Province.

The sight of the exposed ruins under the beautiful unblemished waters provides a window into the architectural work and living conditions that these ancients had. This site was also home to the Lycans once further comprising their civilization, from culture to architecture and even their day to day survival.

It portrays the history of their region’s character fostered by Greek or Roman and even Lycian development.

The outlines of the houses and the walls can be sighted under water especially the shallow parts where the ruins are easily seen.

There are also numerous ancient Lycian tombs which could be found on the hills surrounding Kekova.

Sunken City offers a rare look at a coastal city lost to time and shaped by nature.
