Aspendos Theatre

About Aspendos Theatre

Aspendos Theatre, located near Antalya, is one of the best-preserved Roman theaters in the world.

Built in the 2nd century AD by architect Zenon during the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, it could seat up to 15,000 spectators. Theater features a semi-circular orchestra.

Like all other performance venues, this one has gained popularity as a concert theater, most likely even to this day, thanks to its equally impressive acoustics system.

The Annual Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival is one of the most well-known events held here. The theater itself, the historic ruins, and the aerial view of the surroundings are among the other sights you can see.

The theater’s grand stage and towering walls reflect Roman engineering brilliance and remain a timeless symbol of Antalya’s classical legacy.
