Karatay Caravansarai

About Karatay Caravansarai

Karatay Caravanserai is a 13th-century Seljuk structure located near Aksaray, along the old Silk Road in central Turkey.

Caravansarai built under the rule of Sultan Aleddin Keykubad I. This old inn was a major station on ancient trade routes and features a marvelous courtyard with a greatly decorated gateway.

With its grand stone portal, spacious courtyard, and sturdy halls, the caravanserai reflects Seljuk architecture and the region’s historical role in east-west commerce.

It remains a silent witness to centuries of movement, culture, and exchange.
