Arsameia Ruins

Located close to Mount Nemrut in Turkey’s southeastern region, Arsameia Ruins used to be the summer capital of the Commagene Kingdom.

King Antiochus I established this site as the showcase of ancient Arsemia which has an astonishing underground chamber, Greek carvings, and a powerful relief sculpture of handshake depicting alliance.

The region shows a blend of Persian and Hellenistic cultures and it was a carved into site rock shrine offering some insight into the spiritual and political landscape of the once great empire, now in ruins, settled amidst towering mountains.
