Assos
Assos is an ancient city located on a volcanic hill overlooking the Aegean Sea in the northwest part of Anatolia.
This ancient city is dated back to the Archaic period and is mostly known for the Temple of Athena which overlooks the sea and the nearby islands. The remains of the city’s walls, theater, agora and harbor are testimony to the daily life of the ancient people.
Assos has the added distinction of being a philosophical city since Aristotle lived and taught there.
