Baths of Scholastica

The Baths of Scholastica represent a very well, kept Roman bath that is situated on the street of Curetes in Ephesus.

Dating back to 1st century AD, the baths were first constructed and later restored in the 4th century by a Christian lady called Scholastica.

They serve as a testament to the significance of public bathing that permeated the everyday life of Rome.

The building housed various rooms for different temperatures (hot, warm, and cold) besides the social areas, hence it can be understood that cleanliness and socializing went hand in hand in ancient Ephesus.
