Church of St Polycarp
Constructed in 1625, The Church of St Polycarp, located near the historic center of Izmir, is the oldest Catholic Church in the city, dedicated to St Polycarp, Bishop of Smyrna, and an early Christian martyr, the church reflects the city of Izmir’s rich Christian history.
St Polycarp has 19th century frescos depicting scenes from St Polycarp’s life, Testimony to the church’s historic opulence. The church is built with the permission of the Ottoman’s.
