Ephesian Gate
Ephesian Gate in Hierapolis is located on the west side of the ancient city, and is the gate through which one leaves to Ephesus and the Aegean trade routes.
This monumental gate was the main entrance for ceremonies in Hierapolis and was constructed during the Roman period. A broad, stone, paved road leading to the gate and the watch, towers and columns on either side testify to the city zoning and defensive system.
At present, the Ephesian Gate Hierapolis conveys to the visitors the aspects of the daily living, trade, and traffic of the ancient city which is well preserved.
