Hagia Eleni Church
The 4th century Hagia Eleni Church, situated in Sille Village next to Konya, was constructed by the mother of Constantine the Great, Empress Helena.
It has been hewn from stone, undergoing restoration over many years, and functioned in serving the local Greek Orthodox community for centuries.
Ancient marble prayer slabs, and worn frescoes and icons still venerate the church’s whispering ancient prayers under the arched ceilings.
While the town of Sille sits in silence, the church continues to stand wreathed by the picturesque landscape, serving as an early link to Anatolian Christian history.
