Iznik Lake
Iznik Lake is a large body of freshwater situated close to the historical town of Iznik in northwestern Anatolia.
Historically it was known as Lake Ascanius. For the inhabitants of ancient Nicaea it was vital as it contributed to settlement, farming, and daily activities.
The lake supported fishing, irrigation and travel. It also contributed to the natural beauty of the area.
Iznik Lake continues to resplend in the natural beauty and tranquility it has always possessed, and demonstrates the lasting relationship between nature and human civilization.
