Martyrium of St Philip

Martyrium of Saint Philip is an octagonal early Christian structure which is located on the hills of Hierapolis.

It was built in the fifth century AD in the site where Saint Philip, one of the Twelve Apostles, was believed to be buried.

The significance of Hierapolis as a Christian center during the late antiquity is revealed through the church's placement on the hillside, the shape of the building, and the surrounding pilgrimage pathways.

The remains indicate early Christian architecture and liturgy.
