Miletus Ancient City
Miletus Ancient City was one of the primary Ionia ports and centers of learning and commerce in the region, boasting Aegean coast access.
Philosophers Thales and Anaximander were from Miletus, which greatly influenced the development of early science and urban planning.
The city’s grid layout was an inspiration to later Roman city construction.
Essential remains include the theater from the 4th century BCE, Baths of Faustina, Temple of Apollo Delphinios, and the well-preserved agora.
While Miletus is now located further inland due to sediment from the Meander River, it continues to be a reflection of the brilliance of ancient Greek civilization in trade and philosophy.
