Nymphaeum of Antioch

Nymphaeum of Antioch was a large and elaborate fountain complex that brought water to and decorated the Roman city.

It was constructed with a lavishly ornamented front, recesses, and figurative features, thus paying tribute to water gods and at the same time fulfilling the public utility needs.

Being situated in one of the major streets of Antioch of Pisidia, the building represents not only the sophisticated engineering, and city planning but also the importance of water from the social aspect in Roman era daily life.
