Princes’ Islands

Princes' Islands are a group of nine islands in the Sea of Marmara, southeast of Istanbul, known for their car-free streets and quiet atmosphere.

In Byzantine times, they were used as places of exile for royal family members, giving the islands their name. Today, the four largest; Buyukada, Heybeliada, Burgazada, and Kinaliada are popular for day trips.

Visitors explore by bike or horse-drawn carriage, passing historic mansions, pine forests, and coastal views.
