Rumeli Fortress
Rumeli Fortress, called Rumeli Hisari in Turkish, is a medieval fortress on the European side of Bosphorus in Istanbul.
It was built in 1452 by Sultan Mehmed II to control naval traffic and prepare for the conquest of Constantinople.
The structure features massive stone towers and thick walls stretching from the hilltop down to the water.
Positioned directly across from Anatolian Castle, it played a key role in one of the most significant military campaigns in Ottoman history.
