Western Sanctuary

The Western Sanctuary Of Troy was a religious site in the Hellenistic and Roman periods consisting of several temples and altars.

Situated close to the city’s western gate, it probably commemorated some deities associated with protection and passage.

While only the site’s foundations survive today, it indicates Troy's adaptation toward Greco-Roman worship, incorporating local traditions alongside Mediterranean influences.

Its position outside the main walls suggests some form of pilgrimage movement and the rich religious life that flourished beyond the citadel.
