Akdamar Island

The remarkable Akdamar Island is located in Lake Van in eastern Turkey and is among the places in the world where you can find a 10th-century Armenian Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

The island is renowned for its intricate stone carvings illustrating biblical figures as well as Armenian artistry which makes it a part of an ancient royal retreat.

Akdamar offers both spiritual and scenic beauty because it is surrounded by almond trees and mountains which provides breathtaking views.
