Ataturk Dam

Located on the Euphrates River in southeastern Turkey, Atatürk Dam is among the largest earth-and-rock fill dams in the world.

The dam was completed in 1990 and is of great importance in the GAP Project (Southeastern Anatolia Project) with respects to hydroelectric power generation and extensive irrigation in the region.

The dam also creates a large reservoir, offering beautiful sights which helps in attracting tourism for construction and nature enthusiasts and for people who are interested in local progress.

It stands as a monument to Turkey’s hope to exploit the country’s natural resources while also bringing development to the countryside through sustainable infrastructure.
