Bursa Grand Mosque
Bursa Grand Mosque or Bursa Ulu Cami is among the first masterpieces of Ottoman architecture. It was constructed during 1396, 1399 by Sultan Bayezid I, and the building serves as a testimony to the early days of the Ottoman empire.
The twenty domes sitting on hefty columns contribute to the tranquil and harmonious ambiance of the mosque interior.
The mosque is known for its hand, written panels of Islamic calligraphy and the central fountain, which is the source of natural light as well as fresh air.
It is still in use as a mosque and one of the significant symbols of the first phase of Ottoman religious culture.
