Cobandede Bridge

Cobandede Bridge is located on the Aras River in the Koprukoy district of Erzurum.

It was built in 1298 by Ilkhanid vizier Emir Çoban Noyan. Spanning 130 meters in length and featuring six arches constructed of black, red, and gray stone, the bridge is a fine example of Seljuk and Ilkhanid architecture.

To prevent settling into the swampy soft soil, juniper logs were strategically positioned under the bridge's supports which served as abutments.

This bridge was an important stretch in the Silk Road and helped trade, military, and other movements through the region.

Today the bridge is no longer in use but it remains as a symbol of the region's mid age engineering and rich history.
