Edirne Old Mosque
Edirne Old Mosque (Eski Camii), completed in 1414, is the oldest imperial mosque in the city.
Built by Sultan Süleyman Çelebi and completed by his brother Mehmed I, the mosque has immense stone walls, nine domes and an interior adorned with breathtaking calligraphies.
This mosque is a blend of early Ottoman and Seljuk styles that encapsulates the fledgling years of the empire. The Mosque has a calm hallowed atmosphere, shared by its historic significance.
All together it represents one of Edirne’s spiritual and architectural treasures in the heart of its historic center.
