Grand Bazaar of Edirne (Ali Pasha Bazaar)

The Grand Bazaar of Edirne (Ali Pasha Bazaar) was built in 1569, by the famous Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, for Grand Vizier Ali Pasha.

The Grand Bazaar extends through the city with its vaulted arches, wrought iron gates, and over 130 shops.

It was the central hub of commerce, and lives on as lively bazaar now that sells many local handicrafts, copperware, spices, and textiles.

The Grand Bazaar represents Edirne's dynamic trade history and is an important and dynamic reminder of Edirne's hectic urban life during Ottoman rule.
