Kop Mountain Pass

Situated between Bayburt and Erzurum, Kop Mountain Pass’s elevation exceeds 2400m.

It has been a critical passage through the Pontic Mountains for centuries.

The pass serves as a link from Anatolia’s interior to the Black Sea region, providing stunning views of the mountains and copious snowfall during the winter months.

There’s also a historic martyrs’ monument that commemorates those who died in this region during World War I.

Today, tolls aid winter travel through tunnels, yet Kop still whispers legends of perseverance, commerce, and the brutal challenges of the mountains.
