Lone Pine Cemetery (Australian Memorial)
Lone Pine Cemetery, on Gallipoli Peninsula, is one of the most significant ANZAC memorials, marking the site of the fierce Battle of Lone Pine in August 1915.
Over 1,000 soldiers are buried or commemorated here, surrounded by pine trees planted in memory of the original lone pine that stood during the battle.
The cemetery took its name from a lone pine tree that once stood on the battlefield and features rows of graves and memorial plaques in memory of the troops of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
With sweeping views and solemn stillness, the cemetery honors the courage, loss, and legacy of those who fought on both sides.
