Meric Bridge

Meric Bridge, or Yeni Köprü, crosses the Meric River in Edirne, Türkiye. Built in 1842 during the Ottoman Empire, the remarkable stone bridge has twelve arches.

Designed beautifully with details and flowing shapes, it connects the city to Karaağaç, offering plenty of opportunities to take pictures of the view (especially at sunset).

The bridge played a role in commerce and transport, but unfortunately today, it’s a popular place for photographers and the curious. In the serenity of nature with the shapes of the city reflected in the water, it represents a branch of Ottoman engineering that lasted for over a century.
