Mor Behnam Church
The Mor Behnam (Kirklar) Church located in Mardin is a 6th-century church of the Syrian Orthodox which celebrated the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste.
Like many other buildings in the region, it is constructed of Mesopotamian limestone.
The church’s portico and courtyard exhibit advanced Christian artistry, and the church’s altar is exceptionally detailed.
The praise and worship in the church today is still conducted in ancient Syriac, and through the centuries, devotion has filled the space.
Mor Behnam is more than a sacred site for prayer; it exemplifies the ongoing evolution of Assyrian Christianity.
