Pergamon Museum
The Pergamon Museum is situated in the greater Bergama (Pergamon) area of Izmir Province, close to the ancient acropolis.
It contains an extraordinary collection Matyoel that spreads over Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine collectibles which were excavated from the local archaeological and include figurines, emblems, money, and other objects of everyday life.
Also on exhibit are magnificent works of art from the Asclepion, the Red Basilica, and the Trajan Temple, revealing some of the artistic and religious heritage of this dominant city which fought with Alexandria for supremacy.
