Tomb of Osman Ghazi

In the Tophane district of Bursa is the Tomb of Osman Ghazi, the founder of the Ottoman state.

Upon the conquest of Bursa, Osman Ghazi commanded that a tomb be made for him with a view of the city.

The grave is built over a Byzantine-era construction and his grave, like the early Ottoman history, exhibits simplicity.

As a link to the modest beginnings of the Ottoman dynasty, the tomb illustrates the Ottoman dynasty’s first capital, the city of Bursa.
