Zinciriye Madrasa
The twin domed and intricately carved stone structures of Zinciriye Madrasa, a sprawling masterpiece built in 1385 by Sultan Isa Bey, sit atop a hill in Mardin.
Previously serving as a hub for Islamic education, the tranquil courtyard and wide terrace provide exquisite views of the sprawling Mesopotamian plains.
The madrasa is a representation of Artuqid architecture infused with a deep spiritual meaning, expressing “light” symbolically as knowledge.
It now silently evokes the powerful echoes of fervent prayers and astronomy lessons alongside the rich intellect of ages past.
