Bodrum is one of the most beautiful cruise ports on the Aegean coast. A private shore excursion from Bodrum Port is an excellent way to visit the Ancient City of Halicarnassos. When your cruise ship docks at Bodrum Port, your private guide will be waiting to welcome you and commence your tour.
Our first stop is the Underwater Archaeology Museum, located at St. Peter's Castle. Built by the Knights of St. John in 1402, the castle was built to control the harbour. Today, it remains one of the very few examples of well-preserved Crusader architecture from that time period in and around the eastern Mediterranean.
We will also visit the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, located in the centre of today’s Bodrum- one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Your guide will share the story of King Mausolus and the monument that is the origin of the word ‘mausoleum’.
Later, we will visit Ancient Theatre of Halicarnassus, built in the 4th century BC. The theatre had the capacity for 5,000 spectators and from the top, you will be able to see stunning views of Bodrum. You will have some time to shop before returning comfortably to Bodrum Port with your private vehicle.
After the tour, you will be transferred back to your cruise ship.
