This full-day tour leads you through Kars & Ani, a region filled with rich history for a unique combination of one of Turkey's most recent UNESCO heritage sites, and a city where the Armenian, Byzantine, Seljuk, Russian, and Ottoman empires left an unforgettable impact.
After a picturesque drive, the first stop is Ani Ancient City, where it is situated right above the Arpacay River and is home to the Turkish-Armenian border.
This ancient city used to identify itself as the “City of 1001 Churches” and once was a pivotal point of the silk road, locating itself over two millennia worth of civilizations.
As we walk through the city's fortified wall, we will visit the Great Cathedral of Ani, Ebul Manucehr Mosque, the Church of the Redeemer, and several other medieval empires’ structures and some other Russian-era structures.

Your tour guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel in Kars and drive to Ani Ruins, located approximately 45 minutes from the city center.
Ani is one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in Eastern Anatolia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016. Known as “City of 1001 Churches” and an important stop on the ancient Silk Road, Ani was inhabited for nearly 2,500 years and served as the capital of the medieval Armenian Bagratid Kingdom in the 10th century.
During our guided walking tour inside the ancient city walls, we will explore the most significant monuments, including:
Great Cathedral of Ani,
Ebul Manucehr Mosque, considered the first Turkish-Islamic mosque in Anatolia
Church of the Redeemer,
Pictorial Church, and more along the way.
In the afternoon, we will continue with a city tour of Kars. Our first stop will be Fethiye Mosque. We will then visit Kars Castle, built in 1153 by Saltukid rulers on a rocky hill dominating the city. Our final stop will be Kars Museum, where you will see archaeological artifacts from Kars and its surrounding region.
At the end of the tour, we will drive back to your hotel in Kars.
