Hierapolis Ancient City

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Hierapolis Ancient City is a fine location with very well-preserved Greco-Roman ruins and hot springs, located in what is now Pamukkale, Turkey.

Founded in the 2nd century BC, it thrived with thermal baths, temples, theaters, and sacred sites like St. Philip’s martyrion.

Visitors come especially for holy hot springs, which were believed to be curative.

Three of the major features of Hierapolis include the imposing theater, the large necropolis, and the Cleopatra Antique Pool.

Earthquakes reshaped the city, but its ruins and natural springs still attract travelers seeking beauty, history, and spiritual calm.
