Uchisar Castle
Located in Turkey’s Cappadocia region, Uchisar Castle is a popular natural rock formation as well as a historical site.
It is the highest natural viewpoint in Cappadocia, rising from the rocky heart of Uchisar Village. Carved into a massive tuff cone, the castle once served as a fortress and lookout, with rooms, tunnels, and passages inside its stone core.
From the top, visitors are rewarded with sweeping views of Mount Erciyes, surrounding valleys, and fairy chimney fields.
As a fortress, castle has been in use from the medieval period. Its location has always been beneficial in making it a defense site during Byzantine and Roman times.
Its commanding presence makes Uchisar Castle both a natural wonder and a landmark of ancient defense.
